Week 2 Blog- Coaching Peers to Develop SMART Goals

In working with Mr. Beeler we have created a SMART goal and action steps to better help him integrate technology into his classroom. SMART Goal: Mr. Beeler will facilitate the use of notation software for students to compose simple pieces of music in support of Creative Communicator ISTE standard by hosting one to two mini-lessons a week where all students will learn basic composition techniques to create a piece of music 16-32 measures long by the end of the term.   Action Steps:  1. Identify and explore appropriate notation software tools that accessible for students and approved by the district. If one can not be found, I will work with the district to address the issue (2 weeks).  2. Introduce students to the Creative Communicator ISTE standard (2 days).  3. Week 1 Blog- Technology Integration Framework

 The technology integration framework I have chosen that could be used by my district to support technology practices is the Triple E Framework. The three "E"s in the Triple E Framework stand for Engage, Enhance, and Extend. Using the three "E"s the focus is on how the technology can be used as a tool to help student learning. When looking at an educational tool, we need to see how it will engage, enhance, and extend student learning. Starting with engagement, the tool should increase time on task and also have a social or co-use part. Next is enhancement, which Kolb (2020) states is, "enhancement of learning through technology is when the tool is somehow aiding, assisting, scaffolding learning in a way that could not easily be done with traditional methods." This means the technology goes beyond just engaging them, it helps them demonstrate their learning in a more sophisticated way. Lastly there is extension.
